When the system you depend on starts acting up, the first question is almost always the same: fix it again, or replace it? There is no single number that works for every house. Age, repair history, efficiency, and Arkansas heat and cold all play a part.
Start with age and repair frequency
Most central air and furnace systems last about 10 to 15 years with good care. If yours is in that range and this is the first real failure, a repair is often the right call. If you have already paid for two or three service visits in the last couple of seasons, replacement usually costs less over the next few years.
Watch comfort, not just whether it turns on
A system that runs but cannot keep up on a 100-degree afternoon or a hard freeze is already telling you something. Short cycling, rooms that never even out, and rising power bills are common signs the equipment is past its useful life.
A simple cost check
A useful rule of thumb: if a repair costs more than about a third of a new system — and the unit is older — replacement is usually the better investment. Comfort Membership customers often catch these problems earlier because seasonal tune-ups show wear before a no-cool or no-heat night.
We will give you an honest assessment
Airtech technicians inspect the equipment, explain what failed, and walk through both options. No pressure to replace a system that still has good years left. If a new system is the better path, financing is available on many projects.
